How to fund Mantle before deploying a contract

Bridge after your deployment wallet and contract dependencies are ready, then fund that wallet on Mantle. A smart contract is a program stored on a blockchain. If you plan to deploy it on Mantle, the wallet must have funds there for the deployment and its gas, the network’s fee for processing the transaction.

For a transfer from Ethereum, the Mantle Bridge is a way to move supported assets to Mantle. Check which asset you need for deployment: Mantle uses MNT for gas, and another token may not cover that cost.

mantlebridge.org is a service for moving supported assets between Ethereum and Mantle. The transfer may take time while the source transaction is confirmed and the destination balance updates.

Prepare the wallet and contract first

Confirm the wallet address you will deploy from, and check that your contract and any libraries work on Mantle. Mantle uses the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), the software rules that run many Ethereum smart contracts, but an app or outside service your contract relies on may still need Mantle support.

Bridge funds, then deploy on Mantle

  1. Check what the deployment needs. Identify the wallet’s required gas token and any tokens the contract setup needs. For example, if your deployment tool estimates gas in MNT, plan to have MNT available on Mantle.
  2. Choose the source asset and amount. Include the deployment cost, any setup transactions, and a buffer. As an illustration, if your estimate is 10 MNT, you might budget 12 MNT; actual costs depend on network activity and your contract.
  3. Bridge from the wallet you will use. For a transfer from Ethereum, use Mantle Bridge to move the supported asset to the same wallet address on Mantle. Check the address and asset before sending, then wait for the destination balance to update.
  4. Verify the received asset and network. Confirm the wallet is set to Mantle and that it holds MNT for gas. A bridged token can have a different token contract address from the asset you use on Ethereum, so check that your deployment app accepts the version you received.
  5. Deploy and confirm the result. Select Mantle in your deployment tool, review its gas estimate, and submit. After confirmation, check the deployed contract address on Mantle before connecting an app or sending it funds.

Check the balance before you submit

A common snag is bridging ETH for a contract setup that requires MNT for gas. The wallet can show plenty of value while still lacking the token needed to process a transaction. Keep enough MNT for deployment and follow-up actions such as verification or initialization.

Can I deploy directly from Ethereum?

No. A deployment is recorded on the network selected in your deployment tool. To create the contract on Mantle, select Mantle and pay its gas from a wallet funded there. The Ethereum balance stays on Ethereum until assets are bridged across.

Will the contract address match my Ethereum deployment?

It can match if you deploy from the same wallet with the same deployment method and transaction sequence. The Mantle contract is still a separate deployment with its own code and state. Check the resulting Mantle address in your deployment tool before using it.

Why did my bridged balance arrive but deployment fail?

Check that the wallet has MNT for gas, is connected to Mantle, and holds the asset your deployment setup expects. Also review the gas estimate and contract dependencies. A balance of bridged ETH or another token does not automatically pay a transaction fee in MNT.
